Indiana is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Golden Hoosier Award, which recognizes senior citizens for their lifetime of volunteer service to our local communities.
The award is open to any Hoosier 65 and older who has volunteered in their communities for the past three years or more.
“’The Golden Hoosier Award celebrates the unsung heroes among us,” said Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith “These senior citizens have spent decades giving back, lifting others up and strengthening our communities. I encourage Hoosiers across the state to nominate someone whose selfless service deserves to be honored”
Presented in partnership with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration and AARP Indiana, the award is open to current Indiana residents age 65 and older who have volunteered in their communities for the past three years or more.
The nomination form can be found here on the Lieutenant Governor’s website.
It should include the nominator’s contact information, the nominee’s details and a summary describing the nominee’s service and impact.
Award recipients will be honored at a special ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse on September 2, 2026. The deadline to submit nominations is July 15, 2026. For questions about the Golden Hoosier Award, email GoldenHoosiers@fssa.in.gov.
