Ivy Tech Sponsors New South Dearborn Scoreboard- Underscores Education Partnership

Ivy Tech Community College Lawrenceburg/Batesville has announced its sponsorship of the new South Dearborn High School Backman Field scoreboard, a visible investment in the school community and a reinforcement of Ivy Tech’s commitment to expanding college‑level opportunities for local students.

The scoreboard, set to debut at the Knights’ home games this season, is the latest visible sign of a collaboration that has already helped hundreds of South Dearborn students earn college credit, industry credentials, and significant tuition savings before graduating high school.

Chancellor Mark Graver said the sponsorship aligns with Ivy Tech’s mission to support students both academically and locally.

“South Dearborn students are already achieving at an incredible level through our dual credit and dual enrollment classes,” Graver said. “Supporting the new scoreboard is another way we can support our community — on the field, in the classroom, and in every pathway that helps students move confidently toward college and career goals.”

Over the past five years, 701 South Dearborn students have completed Ivy Tech coursework, earning 178 credentials across 12 program areas, including healthcare, welding, industrial technology, and the Associate of General Studies degree. Families have saved more than $1.74 million in tuition during that time.

This year alone, 50 students earned an Ivy Tech credential or college credit.

Participation continues to grow. In 2025–2026, 295 students took Ivy Tech courses with a 95.1 percent success rate. The school now offers 29 dual credit classes taught by seven credentialed instructors.

The partnership is part of a broader regional effort. Across the Lawrenceburg/Batesville service area, Ivy Tech served 3,080 dual credit and dual enrolled students during the 2025–2026 academic year.
