Addressing Distracted Driving

Submitted by Indiana Senator Randy Maxwell

Recently, in our community, we have seen an uptick in traffic accidents caused by distracted and drunk driving, some of which have been fatal. This is tragic, and it is simply unacceptable.

I want to remind everyone in Senate District 43 to be safe and responsible while driving. Keep your eyes on the road and reduce distractions in the car. We all share the road, and one small mistake could cost someone their life.

Remember, it is illegal under Indiana law to have a phone in your hand while driving, and it puts you and the people around you at risk.

Likewise, it is also illegal to drive while under the influence. If you plan on drinking, always have a sober ride home, be it a friend or an Uber.

Always consider these things before you get into the car. Please help keep our roadways accident-free and ensure everyone returns home safe to their loved ones.
